Yesterday an article I wrote for the publication Unbound: An Interactive Journal of Christian Social Justice entitled Does the Church Need to Build Alternative Economies was published. One of the basic assumptions of that article was that corporate salvation is the goal for community over isolating individuation. In the comment section someone asked if I had written more about this topic. I have, but I thought it would be best to travel through this terrain anew. That is what I plan to do over the next few days on this blog. It is my feeling that our corporate theology of Salvation on the left, right and center is too influenced by the perfect storm of a United State’s philosophy of rugged individualism, capitalistic consumerism, the personal self-help industry and Evangelical ideas of personal salvation. I hope to learn and grow through this writing as I hope you will engage these topics thoughtfully as well. My thesis is that there is no such thing as individual salvation amongst followers of Christ. I hope to coherently work from that idea in the coming days.
