This Week at Mercy Junction: Food, Fellowship and New Clothes

We’ve got a lot going on at the Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center this week and we’d love to see all of you come out for a visit, to participate, and to share a meal.

Hospitality Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 2 pm to 8 pm; and Saturday, 2 pm to 6 pm. During Hospitality Hours, the air-conditioned sanctuary is open for anyone needing a place to pray, meditate, talk, read, find community or just rest. We have vegan food available (Tofurkey sandwiches, hummus and chips, etc.) and cold water and hot coffee.

Lord’s Supper: Wednesday at 7 pm. The Mercy Junction worshiping community celebrates the Lord’s Supper each Wednesday at 7 pm in the sanctuary. Everyone is welcome to participate in the sacrament.

Building Partners’ Summer Potluck: Wednesday, 5 pm to 9 pm. One of our primary goals at Mercy Junction is to build a community of activists, artists and people of faith to work together toward social justice in Tennessee and the world. We have many new building partners and we want to work on getting everyone connected — partners, council members, Holy Heretics, board members, staff and everyone else connected to Mercy Junction.
— 5 to 7 pm: Dinner! We’ll be doing a cookout. Mercy Junction will be cooking veggie burgers and dogs, and providing buns and dressings for the burgers and dogs. We’ll also have soft drinks, plates,
cups, napkins, utensils, etc. If you can, pleae bring a vegan/vegetarian side or dessert.
–7 pm: Mercy Junction will celebrate the Lord’ Supper in the sanctuary. All are welcome to participate in the sacrament.

Ladies Free Clothing Swap: (By Building Partner The Human Initiative): Thursday, 6 to 7 pm. This will be a beautiful gathering of peace loving ladies that will be full of laughter, making new friends, and building community. Want to get in on the swapping? Here are the rules: No men’s, kids, or maternity items. All clothes should be modern and stylish.
Absolutely NO stains, holes, or excessively worn items. Must be in season – no fall or winter items.EVERYONE is expected to be kind and courteous – Pushing, arguing, negative behavior will NOT be tolerated. So what should you bring? You must bring a minimum of three articles of clothing, but are welcome to bring up to 20 items. Gently worn bras, dresses, shorts, skirts, jeans, capris, leggings, tops, handbags, shoes, hats, jewelry, etc. All sizes are welcome! All items will be inspected upon arrival to ensure everyone will receive the absolute best quality items. Please be advised that you could leave with 10 items or more -OR- only a few. Swaps are a great way to thin and build your wardrobe, meet new people, and do your part to keep items out of the landfill. There is absolutely no cost to participate, but donations are always welcome and will benefit The Human Initiative!

Weekend Community Meal: 3 pm to 5 pm, Saturday. Join the Mercy Junction community for a weekend community meal during Saturday’s Hospitality Hours. This is a couple of hours to spend in conversation and fellowship.
