Fellowship of Heretics Daily Devotional: July 23-Be Still

Our Lady

Compiled by Holy Heretic Connie Foster

“Everything that’s created comes out of silence. Your thoughts emerge from the nothingness of silence. Your words come out of this void. Your very essence emerged from emptiness. All creating requires some stillness.” –Wayne Dye

Sometimes doing nothing can be very productive. Doing nothing is being still, quieting your mind and just being. The Bible speaks of the importance of this practice: “Be still and know that I am God.” This is so very difficult in our media-rich, always on the go, over loaded, fast paced society of today that often leaving us exhausted — mentally, spiritually and emotionally.  “We need to find God and He cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature, trees, flowers, grass grow in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence …mwe need silence in order to touch souls.” — Mother Teresa

Today’s Action: For one day stay away from the noisy crowds and “Be still.” Enjoy the silence and get in touch with God.

Sharing: We would love to hear how your day of silence made you feel. Were you rested and refreshed with a little better attitude? Did you cope better with the hustle and bustle and were a little more tolerant and understanding of other people’s situations?
