Fellowship of Heretics Daily Devotional: August 8-Solitude

“Nothing can overcome us except humility alone. Do you see how humility is victorious over the demons?” — Amma Theodora.

When looking for the definition of humility, I was lead to the word modesty. I then looked up modesty. Modesty lead me to moderate. Moderate is defined as average; to make less extreme or intense. Moderation. As people of passion this can often be a difficult behavior to accomplish.

Time feels as if it is flying past us and our energies would like to burn so bright all the time, but that is not possible because we need balance. It is in our stillness that we can achieve the balance we need to burn when desired. Progress is never achieved by an all or nothing attitude. Sometimes we have to understand that burning low is not giving up. To let go of ego and desire is to recharge, learn from the environment, and embrace the possible in regard to community.

We are in this together, but the group is composed of individuals whose well-being defines the collective. Humility is honoring the other individuals in our collective. Let’s honor each other today.

Today’s Action: Think of one way in which you can honor someone else in your community today and do it.

Sharing: We’d love to hear about how you honored your neighbor today. Please comment on our Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/HolyHereticZine
