Chattanooga Organized for Action, or COA, was the first organization to enter into a partnership with Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center. When nobody was rushing to our doors to support us they stepped up believing in the center’s agenda and mission statement.
Since 2010 the primary focus of the organization is the idea that the path towards a better city can be made by the people themselves. Organizing Chattanooga’s communities to achieve positive change means that we can define ourself as a city that lifts up the marginalized and makes sure none of us are left behind.
Social change and equity issues are the foundation of the COA’s work. They tackle everything from tenant’s rights to affordable housing to historic preservation of AfricanAmerican landmarks. Engaging the community is how they operate their mission.
