HOLY HERETIC DAILY DEVOTIONAL-August 27, 2016-Solitude

Compiled by Holy Heretic Connie Foster

“And when he had sent the multitudes away,he went up into a mountain apart to pray; and when the evening was come he was there alone.” Matthew 14:23

Sometimes we load our days with activities, fill our calendars to the max with appointments, listen to the T.V, radio, play video games, music, anything to drown out silence. This is a sad. God speaks to us in a still small voice, the kind you can only hear in silence.

Sometimes we load our days with activities, fill our calendars to the max with appointments, listen to the T.V, radio, play video games, music, anything to drown out silence. This is a little sad. God speaks to us in a still small voice, the kind you can only hear in silence.

There are two occasions in Matthew 24 when Jesus left the crowds and found a quiet place to pray. When He went to the mountain he was seeking a place to pray without interrupted silence. How often do we experience it and how much do we value it. God hears all our prayers but he yearns for some quiet time, free from the distractions of a busy day. It will seldom happen by accident. We may have to rearrange our schedule, walk away from some things but it is a small price to pay to “be still and know” God.

Action: Rearrange your schedule. Turn off your cell phone, walk away from your T.V, computer, video games and “Be Still” and know God. Sharing: We would love to hear how your quiet time has made a difference in your everyday life.

Sharing: We’d love to hear about your observations!
