HOLY HERETIC DEVOTIONAL-August 29, 2016-Solitude

Compiled by Kali Meister, Mercy Junction Administrative Assistant, Reiki Master and Empath

“Silence is like an endangered species. The experience of silence is now so rare that we must guard it and treasure it.” — Gunilla Norris

Living is loud. In fact, those who practice the art of charity through change can be the loudest. There is no shame in living out loud. However, like all things there must be balance. For every roar there should be a whisper.

It is in the still time when we as people can reflect on our motivations, actions, and goals. Silence is the time we allow ourselves to be nurtured by our inner voices and higher power.

If you have hard time scheduling silence make an effort to find it where it is. It is in that moment after your alarm is silenced but before your feet hit the ground. It is the time you stand waiting for your toast to pop from the toaster.

It is the stillness between closing your car door and starting your ignition. It is the time when your muscle memory pauses between menial tasks. Luxuriate in those seconds. Focus on the single inhale and exhale those moments bring. If you can focus only on your breathe in those moments you are a step closer to enjoying the silence.

Today’s Action: Acknowledge the seconds of time we might use to nurture the silence. Make an effort to use that time wisely.
