HOLY HERETIC DEVOTIONAL- Sept. 4, 2016-ACCEPTANCE
Compiled by Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center Director Beth Foster
“I long as does every human being to be at home wherever I find myself.” — Maya Angelou
There are those places and those people where you you can just turn it off. You don’t have to pretend to be anything but who you are. It just fits with all the comfort and coziness and warmth of a gently worn sweatshirt on a rainy November day. You may have known this place or these people for a lifetime, or you may have just met them; but, it’s the same. You know you are home. You know you are accepted.
You are loved. You are safe here. You can take care of yourself here; and, your heart desires to make those who are there with you feel safe, loved and accepted; and, to give them whatever they need to take care of themselves.
What if we all worked to make those who pass through our circles — whether for a minute or a month or a lifetime — feel like they are home when they are in our presence. What if we worked to make them feel the warmth of being in a place where they are loved, safe and accepted. Could we change the world that way?
Action: Get out your markers or crayons, and a blank sheet of paper or a sketch pad. Spend a few minutes drawing a picture of “home.”
Sharing: We would love to see your drawings of home. Please comment on our Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/HolyHereticZine
