Small bird forgive me,
I’ll hear the end
Of your song
In some other world.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them… Matthew 6:26a
We say goodbye to Shimmer. To Samantha whose love for this cat is a witness to the love we should show for all living creatures, thank you. Jesus reminds us that the divine is concerned for even the sparrows, that there is not one hair on our head that is not of the ultimate’s concern. Here at Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center we celebrate Shimmer’s life. Even if that presence in our building was only for a little while, it was an important life to us.
Each and every creature is a gift to the creation from the creator. It is that time that we get to care with, walk beside and stroke the head of each of these creatures we experience grace. Those of us who spend time with the sick and forgotten animals know that they teach us more about the wisdom that surrounds us in creation than probably anything else we could participate.
It is important here at Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center that we say goodbye to Shimmer. The reason is that we want all of the living and breathing creatures that pass through our doors to know that they are accepted and are important to us. So, Shimmer goodbye. We are grateful that we were able to share love with you. We hope that you continue your journey and know that you are remembered by those who care.
