HOLY HERETIC DEVOTIONAL- Sept. 15, 2016-ACCEPTANCE
Compiled by Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center Director Beth Foster
“You learned to accept, or you ended up in a small room writing letters with Crayolas.” — Stephen King
There’s that strange balance — of accepting the world as it is so that it doesn’t destroy you completely while also refusing to accept it as it is and working toward change. That is the balance I seek to find and have found few answers on how to get there.
“Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it,” Rabbi Tarfon said, and to me this is closest I’ve come to finding the words that help me define the balance I seek.
Today’s Action: List three things in this world, or in your life, that you refuse to accept, beside those three things list one thing you are going to do to work toward change.
Today’s Sharing: We’d love to see your lists. Please comment on our Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/HolyHereticZine
