Fellowship of Heretics Daily Devotional: October 11, 2016 — I was sick, and you cared for me

Compiled by Mercy Junction Council Pastor Brian Merritt

Does the rain have a father? Who gives birth to the dew? Who is the mother of the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens? – Job 38:28-29

There are potentially three ways to react to the poetic words posed by the creator:

  1. We could remain in fear of what appears to be the unfair randomness of the universe.
  2. We could resign ourselves to the sovereign power of a God and be overwhelmed by the awesome depth of the creator.
  3. We can see the surrender of control of almost everything outside of ourselves as an opportunity for humility and knowing our spiritual place in the scheme of creation.

I believe that at different times and at different places each and every one of these reactions is appropriate.

Today’s Action: Sit and drink a hot cup of tea.

Sharing: We would love to hear how you make yourself fully present on our facebook page.
