HOLY HERETIC DEVOTIONAL- Oct. 15, 2016-I WAS SICK, AND YOU CARED FOR ME
Compiled by Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center Director Beth Foster
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
The brokenhearted, the grieving, the addicted, the depressed, those full of rage — these are the sicknesses of the mind, spirit and emotions. When we talk about a radical harvest that includes care for all who are ill, we must remember those who suffer from mental illness as well. Care for those among us who are afflicted with these conditions is even more lacking, oftentimes, than the already-so-limited care for those suffering from physical afflictions.
Today’s Action: Think about your own mental/spiritual health, or that of someone you love. When have you been cared for and when have you not? Make a list of three or four ways in which you can care for your own mental/spiritual health better going forward.
Today’s Sharing: We’d love to see your lists of how you are going to care for your mental/spiritual better in the future. Share your stories on our Facebook page at facebook.com/holyhereticzine.
