Fellowship of Heretics Daily Devotional: October 23, 2016 — I was sick, and you cared for me

Compiled by Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center Director Beth Foster

“Healthcare should be between the doctor and the patient. And if the doctor says something needs to be done, the government should guarantee it gets paid for.” — Michael Moore

This quote seems to get at everything health care decisions and allocations should be about. Medical decisons are the individual’s to make. Ensuring there are resources so that everyone can have access to treatment is a societal responsibility.

Today’s Action: Have you take care of preventative care — checkups, mammograms, dental appointments? If you have the resources, and you have not kept up with your preventative care, make those appointments (and keep them today). If you don’t have resources for preventative care, call your county health department and see what they might provide.

Today’s Sharing: Tell us about the appointments you made. Share your stories on our Facebook page at facebook.com/holyhereticzine

** Don’t forget your gratitude journal at the back of your print edition of Holy Heretic!
