Fellowship of Heretics Daily Devotional: December 25, 2016 — There Was No Room for Them In The Inn

Compiled by Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center Assistant Director, Reiki Master, and Psychic Kali Meister

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace goodwill toward all people.” — Luke 2:14

I had the experience of my first Mercy Junction protest several weeks back. It was a protest of the appointment of Jeff Sessions as attorney general. During the protest we help up signs outside the EPB building in downtown Chattanooga. Brian Merrit lead a sermon of sorts explaining how Sessions appointment was not a faith-based decision. What Brian said that effected me profoundly was that it was impossible to love God and not want to ebest for all people. If a person claims to love God they must strive for the health, safety, and happiness of all people. To be a Christian you must have compassion for ALL people.

Loving people is difficult. Yet this is what the Bible commands. Or, if you believe like I do, that God is in us all, then you have to address that the only way to show glory to God is to show love to the God that resides in all people.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. It is glorious. Glory be to God. Glory to us all.
