It’s a new year and we have new hours at the Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center. We’re adding an extra day of hospitality hours each week in 2017.
The new hours at Mercy Junction are 1 pm to 7 pm, Monday through Friday.
Hospitality Hours are those times when we have the Sanctuary at Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center open for anyone needing a safe place to pray, meditate, read, talk or just take a nap.
It’s warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
There is vegan food, hot coffee, cold water and snacks available.
Also during Hospitality Hours, the Peace Collective Free Store is open. The Free Store includes clothing, toiletries, household goods, books, shoes, and other items that are free for anyone to take. Those with things they no longer need are also invited to bring their items to the Free Store for redistribution to someone who can use them.
Generally, we also have several loaves of bread donated by the Gandhi Global Center for Peace that visitors can take home.
The cost of food for Hospitality Hours is about $30 per day. Consider sponsoring a day of Hospitality Hours. You can also sponsor as a gift for a loved one. If you do that, we’ll send your recipient a card noting your gift and explaining about Mercy Junction and Hospitality Hours. Contributions can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by Paypal or mailed to Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center, 1918 Union Ave., Chattanooga TN 37404.
We can also always use donations of canned vegetables for making soups and chili!
