HOLY HERETIC DEVOTIONAL – JAN. 18, 2017 – SHEROES & HEROES: ARTISTS
Compiled by Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center Pastor Brian Merritt
I am not sick. I am broken. But I am happy to be alive as long as I can paint. Frieda Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who has become a feminist icon. Her marriage to the Marxist painter Diego Rivera was filled with tumultuous. Often painting about her physical pain her art is visceral, surreal and autobiographical. Her art has become ubiquitous on calendars, cards and mugs throughout the United States.
Today’s Action: Write down something that has caused you pain. It can be physical or mental. Then attempt to write down how this pain has transformed your outlook on the world.
Today’s Sharing: If you can, share with us at the Holy Heretic Facebook Page at facebook.com/holyhereticzine.
